Introduction

If your MOT is coming up and you live in Stockport, Cheadle, or Cheadle Hulme, you have no shortage of garages to choose from. But when it comes to reliability, transparency, and value, A6 Autos on the A6 corridor stands out as one of the area’s most trusted independent test centres. In this article, we explain exactly what you can expect from an MOT at A6 Autos, why our customers keep returning, and how to book your next test for just £39.

What Is an MOT and Who Needs One?

An MOT test is a legal requirement for all vehicles over three years old registered in the UK. It verifies that your car meets the minimum safety and environmental standards set by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). Driving without a valid MOT certificate is a criminal offence that can result in a fine of up to £1,000 and the invalidation of your vehicle insurance.

The test covers more than 60 individual checks, including brakes, lights, steering, tyres, exhaust emissions, and bodywork. It does not cover mechanical wear and tear beyond these checks, which is why combining an MOT with a service is always a sensible idea.

MOT Testing at A6 Autos, Stockport

At A6 Autos, our DVSA-authorised testers carry out every MOT with full transparency. You are welcome to wait in our reception while your vehicle is tested, and our team will walk you through any advisories or failures in plain English before any repair work is agreed.

We currently offer MOT testing from just £39 – one of the most competitive prices in the Stockport area. There are no hidden fees. If your vehicle fails, we will provide you with a clear, itemised list of what needs rectifying and a fair, honest quote for the work before we proceed.

What Happens During Your MOT at A6 Autos?

• Check-in: Drop your car off or book a specific time slot online or by phone.
• The test: Our DVSA-certified tester carries out all required checks, typically taking 45 to 60 minutes.
• Results: You receive a full breakdown of your result, including any advisories (items to monitor) and any failures (items that must be fixed).
• Repairs (if needed): We quote for any required work upfront, with no obligation to proceed without your agreement.
• Certification: Once your car passes, your MOT certificate is issued digitally via the DVSA’s online system.

Free Vehicle Health Check Included

When you bring your car to A6 Autos for an MOT, we also carry out a free comprehensive health check at no extra cost. This goes beyond the standard MOT checks and gives you a broader picture of your vehicle’s condition, including fluid levels, tyre tread depth, and general wear. It is a useful way to catch potential problems early before they become costly repairs.

Convenient for Stockport, Cheadle, and Cheadle Hulme

Our garage is situated to be easily accessible from Stockport town centre and the surrounding areas, including Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, and central Manchester. We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5:30pm and on Saturday mornings from 8am to 1pm, giving you the flexibility to book at a time that works around your schedule.

Spreading the Cost with 0% Finance

We understand that unexpected car bills can put pressure on household budgets. That is why A6 Autos offers 0% finance through Payment Assist.
